dating tips

These are for my sons. I wanted to write these down before I forget completely about the dating world. When I was dating, I took notes. I wrote down what I liked and what I didn't. I'm glad I did. So from a girl to a boy, here are my thoughts on dating......

BEST FIRST DATE: lunch, just the two of you, then drop her off.
  • No obligations to spend more money or time with a girl if the sparks aren't flying. If they are, then you can take her out again.
  • NOT a dance.
  • DON'T kiss her. Even if she wants you to.
  • Much better than a movie where you don't even learn a thing about each other.
  • If you're not friends first, you don't have much.
DANCES:
  • Wear clean clothes & deodorant. Good smelling deodorant is much better than too much cologne.
  • Chew gum.
  • Disappear for a little while and make the girl miss you and give her some time to talk about you with her friends.
  • Save a girl from dancing with someone she doesn't want to. Don't cut in. Just rescue her shortly after the song is over. Make sure YOU are not the one she wants to be rescued from. Don't dance with her 2 songs in a row & test the waters. If you can't find her after that, it's a no-go. She will be easy to find if she likes you back.
  • Learn how to dance.
GIRLS IN GENERAL:
  • Don't hit a girl. Ever. Not even if she hits you. She might because she likes you. It's not a good way for you to show her you feel the same.
  • Open the dang door! I don't care who tells you not to or if she acts offended that you did. YOU OPEN THE DOOR!!!
  • Don't ever EVER hint that a girl is heavy. Ever. Not even when you get married and she is ginormously pregnant. Nope, you still don't even alude to it. She won't forget. Ever.
  • Make sure the girl is safe. If you take her out, you are in charge of her safety. Don't drive like a wild maniac. If you're next to a road, YOU walk next to the road. You WILL know how to change a tire. Make sure she makes it into her house when you drop her off. Make sure she is enjoying herself, even if she is a dud and you are bored with her and would rather mess around with your friends.
  • Don't EVER mess with a girls hair. This includes, but is not limited to: noogies, letting a twisted up rubber band loose in her hair, gum, scissors, water, anything. Not funny. Not okay.
  • Girls put a lot of time & more effort & money into getting ready than you will ever think to. Acknowledge that and respect it.
  • Flowers are always a good idea, even if you have to pick them yourself. They are the very best when they're not expected.
  • Carry things for girls. Even if she's perfectly capable of managing on her own, and she might be proud of that. Do it anyway.
  • Give a girl your seat if there aren't any more, your jacket if it's chilly, your hand/arm if she needs steadying. Don't take no for an answer.
  • You get a lot farther with a girl by respecting her than anything else.
  • If a girl asks you why you like her, "because you're pretty," better be on the list but it better not be the ONLY thing on the list.
SHE'S NOT INTERESTED, GO AWAY:
  • You go out with her once, and she never seems available again.
  • You have to corner her to talk to her.
  • She's hard to find.
  • She doesn't look excited to see you.
  • She doesn't return your call.
SHE IS INTERESTED:
  • She's happy to see you.
  • She's magically around a lot.
  • Her friends talk to you about her.
  • You don't get a whiplash hug if you hug her.
  • She calls you back.
  • She watches you a lot.
  • She laughs at your jokes.
I'm sure there will be more....stay tuned.

HAHAA! Cheri. You made me laugh right out loud.

Is there a way to get this post out to all dating or wannabe dating guys?
You need to find a way.

Just watched Peanuts creation on the side. When is he going to perform that dance live?
