birdbath cricket love run

In spring, when I started out getting into this whole running shenanigan, the robins were out. And they were fantastic. I would run at the high school track and one night a big ol' robin sat on the fence and watched me huff & puff my way around the track. I would get just about to him and he would fly about 20 feet away & repeatedly do that all the way around the track for me. I kid you not. What a nice little friend!

And now there are blackbirds out and I never see any robins at all. It reminds me that Halloween is really just around the corner. And I'm reminded of how much I love October and November and, forgive me, I've gotten a little bit excited for that time of year to come. Summer, I still love you. But now I'm just not as distraught about you leaving.

I say that....., but today I went to the pool all geared up with Brayden and it was closed. Drove to another pool, same story. I almost DIED. Ahem! It is NOT yet Labor Day. Isn't that the official cut off? We came home, pouting in the heat. I filled a bin with water and put the baby in it. He was delighted and splashed about, watching neighbors mowing & cars passing by. I stripped down to my swim suit and laid out in my front yard by him, enjoying my Better Homes & Gardens. Yes, it was necessary. My backyard is a jungle and I don't know if we would have found our way back out of it. We packed it up when we heard thunder. False alarm. Oh well, it was probably best for us to shut down the white trash show we were putting on.

And did you know that crickets really like to hang out in certain trees? It's true. I discovered that last night as I jogged through the streets. Sure enough every time I came to THAT type of tree it was filled with a chorus of crickets.

I love our neighbors.... {sigh}.

I love that I can forget the most IMPORTANT part of my purse (you know, the part that includes your driver's license, cash, and credit cards) and still be able to pay with a check & no I.D. , like I did this morning, at the grocery store because they know me. Love that!

And I LOVE walking to school with the chillins.

And I LOVE when Clay walks in the door and my day gets about 100 times better in an instant.
