Day 25. Gretel

Walked to school with Brooklyn today. I love that the school is close enough that we have that option. And I'm so grateful for our loaner stroller form Karlee because it is fabulous and allows Brayden (and me!) to be so much more comfortable when we go places.

We were cutting it close on lunch time so I quickly made peanut butter and honey sandwiches for both of us to eat on our way. Brooklyn tucked some of those bright orange (I'm sure cancer causing) peanut butter crackers into the stroller for us to eat as well and a juice box. And off we went, sandwiches in hand.

After we had passed 2 houses, I looked back to see how she was keeping up. There she was, right behind me, no sandwich. She explained that she didn't want it & had set it down by a tree a little ways back. I told her that like it or not, that's lunch, and she should go back and get it. She and her pouty lip walked back, picked it up, brushed it off and came back. And off we went, sandwiches in hand.

After 3 more houses, I looked back to see how she was keeping up. There she was, right behind me, no sandwich. She explained that she didn't want it & had been dropping small pieces off it behind her for the birds to eat for lunch instead. I told her that like it or not, that was lunch. I gave her the juice box. She was mad and asked for the crackers. I said no. I opened them and ate the crackers I don't like as we walked the rest of the way. She was mad mad mad. She yelled, "Fine!" and ran in front of me to each corner, where grudgingly, she had to stop and wait for me to cross with her so she'd be safe. Such a good girl. :). I got that mad look the whole way to school. There was foot stomping and glaring. But I don't think she'll do it again.

I giggled to myself on the way back home as Brayden & I came across little sandwich bits marking our path. I told Clay the story this evening and he laughed & said she did the same thing when they hiked Grandeur earlier in the week.
